After the boat went over the waterfall and capsized, Stephen tried to rescue his little boys, but he got tangled in the rope that was attached to the boat.
The superindendent at the Holly Creek Elementary School where Dalton and Devin attended, stated that the Lycklama boys were good students and that the news had left all of them in disbelief. He stated that Dalton and Devin were well-liked by all the students, the faculty and the people in the Holly Creek Community. He also said that it had been tough for everyone there. It was a very tragic accident.
Memorial services were held for all three, Dalton, Devin and Stephen on Saturday, March 3, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the Broken Bow First Assembly of God Church, with Pastor Chuck Darby officiating.
